Brazilian Beef Supply Chain – The Main Actors, ESG Impacts, and Business Risks

Chain Reaction Research hosted a webinar on Sept. 11th to review two new reports on the state of the Brazilian cattle industry and how factors like deforestation and COVID-19 create business risks.

In recent years, beef production in Brazil has expanded considerably amid favorable political, legislative, and enforcement changes. These trends have occurred at the same time as deforestation, fires, and land-grabbing in the Amazon have all increased. Investors and buyers in global supply chains have, meanwhile, started demanding compliance with sustainable practices and transparency from the cattle sector, particularly the three big companies: JBS, Marfrig, and Minerva. The ongoing exposure to supply chain deforestation, together with the impacts of COVID-19 on the industry, may result in fundamental business risks.

In this webinar, CRR analysts discussed our recent report on the beef cattle supply chain. We will also discuss our recent in-depth analysis of the meatpacker JBS, the largest meat processor in the world. Reports available underneath the video. https://www.youtube.com/embed/IZUybDJnpNs
